This year’s US Youth Soccer Region 2 Tournament was held in Des Moines, IA at the Hidden Valley and Cownie Soccer Complexes from June 22nd through 27th. 18 Iowa Referees officiated in both the Round-Robin Play for the first 3 days of the event and the Semi-Final / Final Round Matches played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This Regional Championship Tournament is one of 4 Regional Tournaments comprising the next-to-highest level of a Nationwide Tournament whose objective is to determine Regional Champions and National Champions in the U-14 through U-19 age brackets for males and females.
13 Iowa Referees worked in the Semi-Final Round and 5 had assignments to the Finals. In addition, Landis Wiley (Palo) has been selected to represent Region 2 at the 2007 USYS National Championship Tournament in Frisco, TX (a Dallas suburb) July 24th through 29th at Pizza Hut Park. Landis was selected as one of 10 Referees and will join approximately 35 other Referees and 10 Assistant Referees from across the Country to officiate at the highest level of youth soccer in the United States.
